About Us
Cornerstone Fellowship was started in 1983 by a group of men and women hungry for more of God. Al Young was the first pastor along with his wife, Virginia. They were used mightily of God until 1993, when the Lord brought Dick and Jackay Metz to Baton Rouge from Dallas to become the second and current pastor. God has added new faces, facilities, and godly staff over the years.
From the beginning, Cornerstone has been open to the life-changing presence of God. Lives have been changed! Lasting friendships have been made! Children have grown up! Jesus Christ has been honored! God's love has been shared!
Approximately 200 people now call Cornerstone home! The church is a Bible believing group of people
that welcomes everyone regardless of circumstances or place in life. We are anxious to encourage and help anyone anyway we can! We love to worship together and share our lives with one another. Families are very important, and much effort is put into raising our children to honor God and serve Him. Guests often tell us that the Spirit is alive and well at Cornerstone, and that the people are down-to-earth and friendly.
Cornerstone is a part of Antioch Oasis International, a group of pastors led by Apostle Olen Griffing from Dallas. Also, Cornerstone relates to local Central churches as a member of the Central Area Pastor's Association, which is made up of 15 Central churches of different denominations!
