Elders
The church is led by five elders -
Dick Metz, Chuck McCaskill, Randy Messer, Dewey
Davis, and Bill Satterwhite. Each of these men enjoy a successful family life. Between the five, they
have experienced over 170 years of marriage, 16 children, 10 grandchildren, and over 100 years as
members of Cornerstone! Each brings an interesting perspective to the table when making decisions
regarding the church: Dick (pastor), Chuck (plant management), Randy (plant management, retired),
Dewey (principal, elementary school) Bill (plant engineering). Most importantly, these men are mature
Christians with strong Bible knowledge and wisdom, and they meet the biblical qualifications of elders
listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
The Bible lists the responsibilities of elders as follows:
- Direct the affairs of the church
(1 Timothy 5:17)
- Hold firmly to the faith, Encourage others by sound doctrine, Refute those who oppose sound doctrine
(Titus 1:5-9)
- Teach the Word
(1 Timothy 3:2)
- Keep watch over the flock
(Hebrews 13:17)
- Pray for the sick and anoint them with oil
(James 5:14)
- Serve not by lording over the flock but by being examples to the church
(1 Peter 5:2-3)
Deacons
The church is served by 4 deacons: Larry Crawford, Alan Phillips, Tony O'Quin, and Barry Weatherly.
These men are ready to serve the church wherever necessary. They too have successful marriages,
godly children, have been members of Cornerstone for almost 80 years, and Christians for over 100
years! These men are mature believers who love God and the church, and they meet the biblical
qualifications of deacons in 1 Timothy 3:8-13.
